When Gina opened in 1983, we were a small family-run clothing business. The early factory floor was busy and full of life. Machines hummed, fabric moved from hand to hand and a small team of twenty people worked with focus, speed and pride.
Those early years shaped who we are today. They taught us that good clothing is made with care.
In the late 1980s, Gina grew into retail supply, creating garments for stores like Stuttafords, Edgars, Garlicks and Ackermans. But the biggest shift came in 1994, when the company moved into uniform production. This moment changed everything.
Uniforms required more precision, more care and more understanding of how clothing supports the people who wear it.
Our first uniform clients included The South African Police admin staff and Sandton Clinic. Ampath joined in 1999 and has remained with us for more than two decades. With each new client, Gina continued to refine its craft. Today, Gina employs more than four hundred and fifty people and delivers over 500 000 garments annually across South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini, Mozambique and Zambia.
The scale is bigger. The work is faster. The technology is smarter. But the heart of the brand has stayed the same.
We have a very loyal, long serving staff base, which we are extremely proud of.
Two of our longest serving team members have been with us for over thirty-seven years. Their stories reflect the history of our business more clearly than any timeline ever could.
