Here are 5 easy tips to ensure that your uniform remains in great shape:
Fasten all Velcro and zips, turning your garment inside out when washing.
This reduces friction on the garments’ outer surfaces and prevents the teeth of the zip or Velcro from catching on other items in the wash, which could cause snags.
Don’t add softener to your garments.
Fabric softener can be harmful to clothes over time as it may leave behind residues that can reduce the absorbency of fabric and contribute to the breakdown of the fibres of your clothes.
Iron your garments
Ironing garments not only removes wrinkles but can increase the durability of clothing. By using a mixture of steam and heat, ironing presses clothing fibres back into shape once they have been washed and creased. Ironing reseals the fibres.
Avoid drying your uniform in direct sunlight
Wherever possible, try to hang your clothes to dry in the shade. Hanging them in the sun for extended periods of time will cause the garments to fade. Alternatively, hang them inside out.
Dry your jacket on a hanger.
